PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

This course covers topics such as food and nutrition, malnutrition, food security, and livelihoods. Grasping these concepts is crucial for evaluating nutritional conditions, developing and executing programs, investments, and policies that target nutrition issues (also known as "nutrition-sensitive"), and assessing the nutritional results of programs, investments, and policies.

  • Introduction to food security and Nutrition in Humanitarian emergencies
  • Roles, responsibilities, and key stakeholders in humanitarian assistance
  • Social-political factors surrounding emergencies
  • Approaches to Nutrition Situation Analysis in Crisis
  • Strategies to support & strengthen food security and restore livelihoods
  • Food aid/assistance
  • Selective feeding programs
  • Nutrition and care at the household level
  • Management of food and nutrition responses in emergency
  • Monitoring and evaluation of food and nutrition responses in emergency

Entry Requirements

  • Students must have a full Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with credit pass in English and one Science Subject if applying for Public Health and Nutrition.
  • College admits both male and female students.
  • Students are admitted from any religious and social background

Programme includes:
