About this programme

PROGRAMME DETAILS

Our tailoring and fashion design course equips individuals with the skills to create and construct garments, often including design, pattern making, and sewing techniques. These courses can range from introductory level to advanced diplomas and cover a variety of subjects, from basic garment construction to luxury tailoring. 

What you might learn:

  • Basic Sewing: Learning to use sewing machines, identifying common machine problems, and understanding basic garment construction techniques. 
  • Pattern Making: Developing patterns for different garment types and tailoring them to individual needs. 
  • Fashion Design Principles: Understanding color theory, fabric selection, and design trends. 
  • Garment Construction: Learning how to sew, cut, and assemble garments, including techniques like draping and embellishments. 
  • Industry Terminology: Familiarizing yourself with industry-specific terminology and understanding different garment types. 
  • Measurement Techniques: Learning how to take precise measurements for custom-made garments. 
  • Portfolio Development: Creating a portfolio of your designs and creations to showcase your skills. 

Entry Requirements

  • MSCE
  • Students must have a full Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with credit pass in English and one Science Subject if applying for Public Health and Nutrition.
  • College admits both male and female students.
  • Students are admitted from any religious and social background.
